Years of ‘people watching’ has provided a great background for designing retail and work environments. There is an emphasis on experience, providing a space that is conducive to reaching a desired outcome. We are continuously responding to the built environment, often without even being aware of it.
In retail, I have worked with over 30 owners and have the benefit of learning from their perspective on what works. All decisions must be informed by the defining goals, be it maximizing ‘bang for buck’, reinforcing the brand, or creating memory moments. I have helped to select rental spaces, finalized store names and have assisted in logo development. It is great to be fully engaged with projects that are critical to the proprietor and I appreciate being a part of the core team.
With work environments, there is a great opportunity to improve productivity. Lighting, work flow, and positive team dynamics can be enhanced with creative design. Ergonomically correct work flow makes for happy and productive work places. The initial task for the team is to clearly define the goals, budget and move in time line. By shepherding the project through an orderly and cost effective process, energy can be focused on the important details that will ensure a successful project. If staff and clients have a choice in where they work and who they work with, you can achieve a competitive advantage by building a quality work environment.
I am happy to review your project and discuss the specific design skills that I can put to work on your space.
